Things to do in Fort Lauderdale

Beach activities and water sports

With its year-round warm temperatures and abundance of outdoor activities such as boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, surfing, scuba diving, Fort Lauderdale is a top watersport destination. Its only a 5-10 minute walk to the beach from the hotel. Get your gear and go snorkeling or surfing, or just enjoy the beach and go swimming, or have some drinks in the bars. There are jet ski rentals nearby, and if you like to go on a diving or snorkeling tour there are several locations for that, for example Sea Experience.

Fishing

Do you want to go fishing in the Atlantic? There are fishing charters close to us at Fishing Headquarters. You can either go drift fishing to bottom-fish and catch snappers, groupers, hogfish or triggerfish etc, or go trolling with the sport fishing charters to try to catch bigger fish like tuna, mahi mahi, sailfish, wahoo or swordfish.

Explore Venice of America

Greater Fort Lauderdale is also called Venice of America, thanks to the 300 miles of inland waterways that run through, with about 165 of those miles in the city of Fort Lauderdale itself. Hop on a water taxi to get into downtown on the canals, or take a cruise, for example Jungle Queen, to see and hear about the expensive mansions on the water. We highly recommend taking a tour on the canals once you are here.

Restaurants and bars

There is a lot of good restaurants and bars within walking distance from our hotel in Fort Lauderdale Beach. Las Olas Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale also has many nice restaurants, and is just a 5-10 minute drive from the hotel.

Shopping

Like to go shopping on your vacation?  The Galleria Mall at Fort Lauderdale is a premier shopping destination with more than 100 fashion retailers, and located just a 5 minute drive from the hotel. If you like to go to an even bigger mall, you can visit Sawgrass Mills, which is located about 40 minutes from the hotel or Aventura Mall, located about 50 minutes from the hotel.

Watch highest division sports

You can watch many sports live in south Florida. If you like soccer, you can watch Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami team play at the DRV PNK Stadium, about 30 minutes from the hotel. If you prefer hockey, watch the Florida Panthers play NHL at BB&T Center, about 40 minutes away from the hotel. In Miami, you can see Miami Dolphins play football in NFL, Miami Marlins play baseball in MLB or Miami Heat paly basket ball in NBA, all within an hour drive from the hotel. If you just want to visit a sports pub to watch the games, there are many alternatives locally in Fort Lauderdale. For tickets to sports and concerts, the easiest way is to buy online at Ticketmaster.

Everglades

Are you an adventurer and want to explore the wild nature of Florida? Then you might want to visit Everglades national park. It is only about a 40 minute drive to Holiday Park, where you can go on Airboat tours.

Butterfly World

Butterfly World is just a 30 minute drive from the hotel and a great place to visit with the family.. Here you will see many beautiful butterflies, birds and flowers. They also have a cafe on site.

Lion Country Safari

Lion Country Safari is Florida´s only drive-through safari and walk-through amusement park. It is located about 1 hour and 20 minutes drive from the hotel.

Miami Zoo

Spend a day at the zoo! With almost 750 acres and 4 miles of walkways, Miami Zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals representing close to 400 different species. You can rent a Safari cycle for up to 4 adults and 2 children, to be able to get around the whole park. We recommend doing this in advance to be sure there is supply once you arrive. Miami Zoo is located about 1 hour and 20 minute drive from the hotel.
